Andhra Bank, one of the leading public sector banks, has decided to upgrade at least five branches in Odisha into Nextgen branches by the end of December this year. Majority of bank transactions at the Nextgen branches would be automated and they would also be equipped with ATMs.
"The Nava Shakti or the Nextgen branches would have a 24x7 cash receiving machine, self service passbook printer and ATM facilities", said A V Ramkrishna Rao, deputy general manager at the bank's zonal office here.
The branches that will be upgraded into Nextgen branches include Polasara, Goshaninuagaon in Berhampur, Girisola (near Berhampur) and Khandagiri and Baramunda branches in Bhubaneswar.
The PSU bank that observed its 90th anniversary on November 28, has 1400 branches in the country. Out of that 90 are Nextgen branches. The bank hopes to have 250 such branches by the end of the year.
