The Andhra Pradesh High Court has cleared the proposal of setting up a special court for day-to-day trial in the Satyam fraud case and the process will start as soon as the state government notifies it.

"We have got favourable indications from the Andhra Pradesh High Court for designating a special court on Satyam case...It will be our intent and effort to ensure that trial takes place as quickly as possible. I am hopeful that it will be done in a year," said Salman Khurshid, Minister for Corporate Affairs.

The committee of the high court has met and cleared the proposal of setting up the special court and now the state government has to issue a notification to the effect, ministry officials said.

Earlier, Khurshid had said the government will put the Satyam case on a fast track and will pitch for day-to-day trial.

The CBI had filed an appeal in the high court in coordination with the Corporate Affairs Ministry.

The CBI will initiate prosecution in the case with the assistance of the ministry of corporate affairs, the sources said.
