Andhra Sugars net up 56%

The West Godavari-based Andhra Sugars' net profit zoomed 56 per cent to Rs 11.42 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2004, compared with Rs 7.32 crore for the corresponding previous quarter.

Andhra Sugars, the oldest listed company in Andhra Pradesh, registered a turnover growth of 18.29 per cent to Rs 120.21 crore (Rs 101.62 crore). The earnings per share for the quarter was at Rs 4.22 (Rs 2.70).

Britannia net up 10.8%

Britannia Industries has posted a net profit of Rs 29.7 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 compared with Rs 26.8 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2003, a growth of 10.8 per cent.

Total Income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 364.7 crore in third quarter of fiscal 2003 to Rs 385.8 crore for quarter ended December 31, 2004.

Bilt net up 32%

Ballarpur Industries (Bilt) reported a 31.72 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 43.3 crore during October-December 2004 compared with Rs 32.9 crore in the thrid quarter of the previous financial year.

Total revenues increased by 1 per cent to Rs 560.5 crore over Rs 555.1 crore during October-December 2003. Net profit during July-December 2004 grew 30.15 per cent at Rs 83.4 crore over Rs 64.1 crore in the corresponding period previous fiscal. Total revenue during the first half (July-December 2004) rose to Rs 1,104.5 crore compared with Rs 1,098.4 crore.

Chola net dips 6%

The Chennai-based Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company's has reported a 6.03 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 7.78 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2004 compared with Rs 8.28 crore for the same period last year.

Income from operations also fell by 7.12 per cent to Rs 51.63 crore during the third quarter from Rs 55.59 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Provisioning and other charges has declined by 4.9 per cent to Rs5.57 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2004 compared with Rs 5.86 crore for the same period last fiscal.

Business origination costs have sharply declined by 38.39 per cent to Rs3.77 crore for the third quarter in 2004-05 from Rs 6.12 crore for the same period last fiscal.
