Animation school sets up shop in Ahmedabad

Digital Asia School of animation (DASA), headquartered in Bangkok, has set up a campus in Ahmedabad in association with the LiAD Institute of Art and Design.
 
The institute plans to hire professional studio animators as faculty for the academic session beginning July.
 
The courses available from the Ahmedabad campus include Animation Technology, 3D modelling/animation-rendering, character modelling, environmental simulation for movies, movie editing, SFX, facial expression capturing among others.
 
Inaugurating the campus, Aditi Govitrikar, former Mrs World said, "Animation is evolving in India with opportunities in national and international projects which has led to competition in the field. Therefore, for those who want to join the field, it has become essential to undertake professional training."
 
Seconding the view, VG, Samant, Director of Hanuman, the first animated film in India said that various independent agencies predict that the need for animation professionals will grow in a big way in the coming few years which will lead to the likes of more Indian subjects like Hanuman.
 
He also added that there is a need for a platform where aspiring animators can learn and acquire technical knowledge.
 
Students of the course, who have a fee structure between Rs 60,000 and Rs 2 lakh depending on the course will have two month industry internships. The curriculum for the students of Film Animation Diploma includes a trip to Bangkok.
 
DASA has said it intends to widen reach in Gujarat through strategic alliances with like-minded entities.
