Buoyed by the state government's textile policy and growing demand, Surat-based player Anubha Industries is set to foray into denim manufacturing. The company is setting up about to 20 million metres per annum denim fabric capacity at its upcoming Surat plant.

"The group is looking at establishing itself in other verticals of textile. While we already have presence in synthetic textiles, we are setting up a greenfield plant for denim fabric manufacturing," said Aditya Goyal, director at Anubha Industries.

Refusing to divulge investment details, Goyal confirmed that the plant will manufacture denim fabric at an annual capacity of 20 million metres per annum. However, according to industry sources, the Surat-based textile group could invest anywhere between Rs 50 and Rs 60 crore for the denim plant. "The plant will commission by next year April. We are yet to decide what portion of the produce will be exported since there is still sometime before production commences," said Goyal.

According to Goyal, company is also considering manufacture of mid-end or high-end denim fabric from the greenfield plant.
