In tune with its policy to electrify all households by March 2016, the Andhra Pradesh government has asked its power distribution companies (discoms) to gear up to spend Rs 330 crore for the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyothi Yojana (DDUGJY).
Under the DDUGJY scheme, electrification of 1,031 un-electrified habitation and 683,501 rural households, including 432,334 below-the-poverty line (BPL) are being taken up, apart from separation of agriculture feeders, metering at distribution transformers, feeders and consumers, chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao said today.
"In line with the advice of the Union ministry of power, the state government is contemplating establishing 'district electricity committees' for reviewing and monitoring the execution of the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) and DDUGJY," he said.
