The several APEX schemes, introduced in August 2002, have worked for the domestic airlines. Twenty-one per cent of the total passenger traffic of Air Sahara has come from its APEX, Sixer and Super-Sixer schemes. For Indian Airlines and Jet Airways, the figures are 9.7 per cent and 8 per cent, respectively.
A certain number of seats under the APEX scheme are bound to be a permanent fixture, Sunil Arora, chairman and managing director of Indian Airlines, says. A 100 per cent occupancy never lasts long, and airlines will always try to fill seats through schemes.
