APGenco plans to add 3,210 Mw

As part of its short-term programme to achieve optimum level of enhancing additional generating capacity, Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGenco) is planning to add 3,210 Mw of power with an investment of around Rs 16,000 crore.

The state power utilities are making all out efforts to supply satisfactory power to all categories of consumers, agricultural and industrial sectors in particular. As part of this, the state government has given approval to APTransco to invest Rs 1,083 crore towards purchase of power from mid January to end of May 2012, the state energy department said in a release on Saturday.

 

Enthused with the success of the CII Partnership Summit 2012 in attracting substantial investments, the department said, the government had directed all power utilities to fully gear up and re-double efforts to meet the power requirements of the entire industrial sector, both present and future, by enhancing generating capacity to the maximum extent.

Of the around Rs 6.47 lakh crore worth of investments for which MoUs were signed by various entrepreneurs with the state government during the summit, the AP power sector had attracted a lion's share of around Rs 2.93 lakh crore, the release added.
