APGenco sets up 1-Mw solar plant

The state power utility, APGenco, on Friday commissioned a 1-Mw solar photovoltaic power plant, which it had installed at the Jurala hydro-electric project in Mahabubnagar district .

The plant was synchronised with the grid today and it will start commercial operations from tomorrow, said K Vijayanand, managing director of APGenco, in a press release. The plant was set up at a cost of Rs 12.8 crore and was designed to generate 1.4 million units of power a year, according to the press release.

The project was allocated to the power utility under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
