Apollo Hospitals Enterprise on Wednesday announced that it has appointed Preetha Reddy, daughter of founder Pratap C Reddy, as executive vice-chairperson of the company, and Suneeta Reddy, Preetha’s younger sister, to the post of managing director. Both have been elevated from their existing posts of managing director and joint managing director, respectively.

Prathap Reddy has four daughters — Preetha, Suneeta, Shobana Kamineni and Sangita. Shobana Kamineni, who is currently executive director (special initiatives) has also been appointed executive vice-chairperson. Sangita, who is currently the executive director (operations) has been appointed joint managing director.

With this, Suneeta will look after the day-to-day business of the hospital chain while Preetha, who has been looking after the hospitals, will now be focusing on policy matters and international business.

“As the healthcare landscape in the country and the region changes and expands, this strategic realignment will enable Apollo to focus on growth opportunities in hospitals, pharmacies, clinics and health insurance while furthering its clinical leadership and service excellence,” said Prathap Reddy.

In her new capacity, Preetha will be working closely with upgrading the manpower resources, the organisation’s 8,000 clinicians, and others in reviewing global medical advancement and introducing latest technology to enhance clinical outcomes. Besides directly leading the international business vertical, she will also work closely with industry bodies and state governments and the Centre on policy matters.

As managing director, Suneeta will lead the corporate strategy, corporate finance, funding and investments, and will leverage mergers and acquisitions to optimise profitability. She will directly handle the hospital vertical, brand, and marketing of Apollo Hospitals.

Shobana Kamineni, who has been looking after the pharmacy and insurance business, will continue to spearhead Apollo Pharmacy, a fast-growing business under the company. She will oversee the planning, design and execution of new projects and lead the Apollo Global Projects Consultancy Division. She will continue to be the whole-time director of Apollo Munich Health Insurance, a joint venture she was spearheading.

Sangita, who has been handling the IT initiatives and the clinics network of the company, will continue to steer the company's thrust on research, innovation and healthcare initiatives. She will also spearhead health and lifestyle under Apollo Health and Lifestyle, which runs clinics and the mother-and-baby care brand Cradles.
