Apollo Hospitals Enterprise reported a 2.4 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 93.7 crore in the September 2015 quarter, compared to Rs 91.5 crore in the year-ago period.

Revenues were at Rs 1,367.3 crore, compared to Rs 1,152.9 crore — a growth of 18.6 per cent. The results displayed operational improvements across all businesses.

The Chennai-based hospital chain plans to add 895 beds by the end of the current financial year — 180 at Bengaluru, 400 at Navi Mumbai, 250 at Vizag, and 65 beds at Indore.

The Chennai cluster continued to report healthy momentum in volume growth as inpatient volumes grew nine per cent and outpatient volumes increased 10 per cent.  Revenues from the Chennai cluster grew 13 per cent from Rs 606.3 crore during the first half of FY15 to Rs 686.6 crore in the first half of FY16. Of the 13 per cent growth, eight per cent came from existing hospitals and the remaining was from new hospitals. In the Chennai cluster, occupancy was 954 beds in the first half of the current financial year, compared to 949 beds in the same period a year ago.

Apollo said the impact of rationalisation of cases at the Hyderabad cluster continued with revenues growing seven per cent from Rs 244.5 crore in the first half of FY15 to Rs 261.8 crore in the same period in FY16. Thanks to rationalisation, occupancy in the Hyderabad cluster was 567 beds in the first half of FY16, compared to 608 beds a year ago. An increase in international patients contributed to the revenue growth, Apollo said.
