Headed by Apollo Hospitals Group scion Upasana Kamineni, grand daughter of the Group Chairman Pratap C Reddy, the company currently manages about 1,000 Occupational Health Centres (OHCs) in collaboration with about 600 corporate houses in the country. The operations include managing healthcare centres within corporate companies and conducting healthcare classes to corporate entities.
Set up over 10 years back, Apollo Life started focusing on the wellness business in 2011, to address the occupational healthcare market in the country. It has also set up a retail business, under which it sets up centres under the brand Apollo Life Studio in 20,000-25,000 sq ft where it offers integrated health gyms, spas, cosmetology, dental, swimming pool and lifestyle rehabilitation. Currently it manages two Studios in Hyderabad and one in Visakhapatnam.
"We have others being planned in other parts of the geography including international expansion," said Ariz Rizvi, CEO of Apollo Life. The idea of Apollo Life is linked to the Group's vision on preventive healthcare, he added.
The company would be setting up two more centres in India, one in Karnataka and another in Maharashtra, while international plans are expected to be in Middle East and Europe. The funding has been from the Apollo Hospitals Group.
While there are a lot of gyms in the country, the company's retail centres are linked to clinical protocol and the healthcare background its parent Group offers, he said.
Those who join the gym has to mandatory go through a complete health-check, including posture, gait analysis, blood analysis,lipid profile and allergies. It will do a complete planning of their fitness regimen and a diet plan that would be shared with the trainers.
On the corporate side, the company focus on health related matters to companies with a size of over 100 employees or more. While refusing to reveal the name of clients, Rizvi said that the company is serving one or two out of the top five largest IT services companies in the country.
Sectors such as manufacturing are also gaining traction. While it has been focusing on top seven cities in the country so far, of late it is seeing a lot of growth in the tier II cities like Visakhapatnam and Rajamundri in South and places like Baddi in the North India. The company's aim is to touch 10 million lives in next two years from over two million lives touched so far.
The company has recently tied up with Jiyo, founded by renowned physician and author Deepak Chopra and technology expert Poonacha Machaiah, to offer a wellbeing platform which brings experts, content, products and services to the corporate consumer and delivers seamlessly on a mobile/web platform.
