Apollo, Rel Info ink deal for tele-medicine

Apollo Hospitals and Reliance Infocomm signed a deal to offer access to healthcare services in over 100 cities through tele-medicine.

The Reliance Web Worlds would offer access to Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, an integrated, multi-speciality telemedicine system with over 80 stations and over 2,000 in-house specialists.

"By combining Reliance's 240 Web Worlds and Apollo's 80 telemedicine stations, we are creating a matchless network in the world. It marks the beginning of a new era in Indian healthcare," Prathap Reddy, chairman of Apollo Hospitals, said.

Sarup Chowdhury, CEO of Reliance Web World, said: "Apart from easy access to medical facility, it will also lead to substantial savings on healthcare and time."

The initiative would provide services like tele-consultation with specialists at Apollo's hospitals, second opinion services relating to diagnosis and management of a variety of clinical conditions.
