Apollo Hospitals, the Chennai-based healthcare provider chain, is firming up plans for two new hospitals by next year-end with 200 beds each in Bangalore. “These would be a kind of brownfield projects,” said Dr Umapathy Panyala, CEO, Apollo Hospitals-Bangalore, adding “we are scouting for buildings with each being at least 150,000 sq ft.” Of the locations it is zeroing in, one is in Malleswaram in western Bangalore and the other it is planning at Bellandur in south eastern Bangalore. Each will be supported by hub-and-spoke model, said Dr Panyala. The group will be spending Rs 100 crore each on the new hospitals and will use the hospitals as spokes.
Apollo Hospitals, is also seeking to widen its footprint in the state in a big way over the next three years. Apollo is planning to invest about Rs 150 crore in the facility for its upgrade.
Till now, some Rs 300 crore had been spent on the Bannerghatta Road facility and the group will spend another Rs 150 crore on upgrading it.
