The Apollo Hospitals Group will soon float Apollo Charities, an umbrella organisation to monitor all its corporate social activities.

The new body will oversee the funding for various CSR activities, research and analysis apart from conducting screening and health camps and mobile hospitals, said group chairman Pratap C Reddy.

As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the hospital has targeted to perform 2,500 heart surgeries this year free of cost for children across the country.

He said new centres of excellence would come up at the hospital premises in Hyderabad. It is also building up a new facility for cancer treatment.

To generate funds for its ‘Save a Child Heart’ (Sach) scheme, Apollo is conducting an entertainment event on August 17 at Novotel. There would also be art auctions at the programme. “We are expecting to garner sizable donations,” said Upasana Kamineni, overseeing the CSR activities.

The event will have tables to accommodate 12 people and each table will fetch Rs 5 lakh for the foundation. Also, the group will launch B+ve, a monthly health magazine, shortly, she said.
