Apple’s iPhone SE, the latest offering from the Cupertino-headquartered devices major, will be available for sales starting April 8 in India.

The four-inch avatar, which was unveiled on Monday in the US, will be the fastest iPhone to reach India till date — 19 days after its global launch.

The iPhone SE is aimed at increasing Apple’s market share in developing countries like India and Latin America. The 16GB iPhone SE will cost Rs 39,000 in India. While SE was priced Rs 23,000 lower than the launch price of 6s, it was more than street estimates of Rs 27,000-32,000.

However, India’s increasing importance is evident in the fact that the new model will be sold in the country within 20 days of its global launch — compared to 36 days for iPhone 6s & 6s Plus in 2015.

Redington, Apple’s biggest distributor in the country, will start selling the product in India next month.

“Redington will offer iPhone SE, the most powerful phone with a 10.16-cm display, beginning on Friday, April 8 in 3,000 retail outlets across the country,” the firm stated.
