Aptech Ltd is planning takeovers in the field of IT education. "We will typically take over companies that have content development capability and a medium-to-large distribution channel overseas," Pramod Khera, CEO and managing director, said.

Khera was in town to felicitate students at a convocation ceremony. "We are talking to four such companies and are weighing the pros and cons," he added.

Sources close to the development said Aptech will probably end up acquiring two of these. The CEO, however, declined to name the companies.

In a parallel development, the company is looking at higher overseas revenues. In calendar 2003, the fiscal for Aptech, the company saw 30 per cent of its income from overseas locations.

"We will like to see this number increase to 50 per cent by 2006," the CEO explained.

The company is also eyeing overseas government business and is in talks with government departments in west Asia, Latin American countries like Columbia, and South Africa.
