Aravali Power Company has warned of terminating power supply to BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna, which distribute electricity in major parts of the city, for non-payment of dues worth over Rs 20 crore.
Aravali Power, a joint venture between NTPC and two other companies, has threatened to stop power supply to the two BSES entities from midnight of October 7.
When contacted, a BSES spokesperson said that all the current bills of Aravali Power have already been cleared and there is no overdue payment.
"BSES is committed to paying all its dues, as it is to its 28 lakh consumers and will make all efforts to ensure no inconvenience is caused to our customers," the spokesperson said.
Aravali Power is estimated to be supplying 166 MW of electricity every month to the two BSES utilities.
According to separate but similarly-worded notices sent to BSES Rajdhani Power (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power (BYPL), the total outstanding dues till September 30 was worth over Rs 20.52 crore.

Out of the total, BRPL owes about Rs 12.62 crore while BYPL has outstanding of Rs 7.90 crore.
The two BSES utilities account for more than 70 per cent of power supply in Delhi. While BRPL caters to West and South Delhi, BYPL supplies electricity in East and central Delhi.
Going by the notices, there is no Letter of Credits (LCs) in favour of Aravali Power from the two entities as on September 30.
"As per the terms of the PPA, the LC is to be established and maintained at all times and the validity period of the LC is to be for a period of one year renewable from time to time," the notices pointed out.
The present allocation for BRPL is 102 MW while that for BYPL is 64 MW. The electricity is supplied from Aravali Power's 500 MW Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Station.
Aravali Power has an installed capacity of about 500 MW. The plant is located in Jharli, Haryana. Its JV partners, besides NTPC, are Haryana Power Generation Company and Indraprastha Power Generation Company.
