ARBL opens Amaron PitStop in Nellore

Automotive battery manufacturer Amara Raja Batteries Limited (ARBL) has announced the setting up of its 45th Amaron PitStop in the country at Nellore, taking the number of its PitStops in Andhra Pradesh to five.
 
At present, ARBL has four PitStops in Andhra Pradesh "� one each at Hyderabad, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
 
The Amaron PitStop is a retail centre for automotive batteries, where batteries can be bought.
 
In keeping with the environmental norms, the PitStop will also function as a collection centre for used batteries. The collection of used batteries is a critical step in controlling backyard smelting by scrap merchants.
 
Amara Raja supplies automotive batteries exclusively to DaimlerChrysler, Ford and Swaraj Mazda and preferentially to Ashok Leyland, Eicher, Fiat, General Motors, Hindustan Motors, Honda, International Tractors (Sonalika), Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra and Telco.
 
Commenting on its expansion in Andhra Pradesh, Indeevar G, head (automotive batteries, aftermarket), Amara Raja Batteries, said, "The PitStop concept has been highly successful, both as a retail point and as a collection centre. We believe Nellore is emerging as a vibrant automotive market and are confident that our pioneering concept in battery retailing will be well received by the market."
