The Indian arm of France's Areva Power, Areva T&D, today said it has bagged a Rs 101-crore order for supplying gas insulated substation from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).
Areva T&D would supply 420 KV (Kilo Vaults) and 230 KV gas insulated substation package for Mettur Thermal Power Project of TNEB, a company statement said.
The order to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2009, comprises design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and other associated activities, it said.
Meanwhile, Areva T&D would be spending Rs 700 crore for its capacity expansion.
The company is setting up a second transformer facility with a capacity of 765 KV at Baroda and the capacity would be later raised to 1,200 KV.
Besides, the Bangalore facility for developing instrument transformers is being shifted to Hosur (Karnataka). The work at its unit in Padappai near Chennai is in full swing.

The company's clientele includes state-run NTPC, PowerGrid and Reliance Power. Areva T&D has also built power distribution system at a cost of Rs 240 crore for GMR Group's Delhi Airport project.
The company is in talks with state-run BHEL to form a joint venture for manufacturing nuclear reactors.
