Arrow Coated Products Ltd, one of India's leading and pioneering manufacturers of pressure-sensitive adhesive-coated films, has been granted patent for Embedded Water Soluble Films by Australian Patent office (Patent Grant. No. 2002356417 till October 07, 2022), the company said in a BSE filing.
This patent has also been granted in various other countries, including India and is in the process of grant in Europe, and the US. This gives exclusive rights to the company to produce, market and license actives embedded water soluble films which can be used as a carrier to deliver the actives to its desired location and in precise dosages.
The company has atleast three patents in health care domain and one of the patents which was jointly held with a UK based firm deals with delivery of actives in vivo and in-vitro. These patented products shall radically change the way drugs and/or its actives are delivered to human beings and to animals. With advent of nano technology and stem cell research, this patent will work as a compliment to these technologies.
This invention is also useful to deliver of pesticides and it's actives to plants and seeds, to control pests. The upcoming use of bio-pesticides in agriculture pest control, this patent holds a very promising method of delivering these actives to its location.
In India, the company and their associates have filed pre-grant oppositions and post grant oppositions against atleast two known pharmaceutical companies, who had filed similar patents in India. The company is in the process of negotiating the terms of commercialization with quite a few health care and agro-chemical companies, for licensing their patents.
