Arun Gupta, global chief information officer at pharma major Cipla has quit the company. Gupta who joined Cipla in 2012 May has led the company's transformation with a focus on information technology. Under him, a new business technology team was formed at Cipla and he took multiple initiatives on sales force effectiveness, supply chain, Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and process renewal with automation.
Before joining CIpla, Gupta worked as Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Shoppers Stop Limited between 2007 and 2012. He also held additional role as group CIO at K Raheja Corp and business head - food & beverages at Shoppers Stop.
A Cipla spokesperson has confirmed Gupta's exit.

Gupta had his second stint in pharmaceutical sector at Cipla, having earlier worked as Senior Director – Business Technology at Pfizer India where was a part of the India leadership team and Asia IT Strategy Team.
Gupta has over 30 years of experience spanning across a range of companies such as Philips Electronics, DSP Merrill Lynch, DHL Worldwide Express, Hughes Telecom, Great Eastern Shipping Co and NELCO.
Gupta was educated at institutes such as Dartmouth College - The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Indian School of Business.
