Asahi India Q2 net dips 97% at Rs 51 lakh
 
Asahi India Glass has reported a 97 per cent fall in net profit during the second quarter ended September 2005 to Rs 51 lakh from Rs 19.16 crore in the second quarter last year. Gross sales improved 2.54 per cent to Rs 181.08 crore from Rs 176.60 crore.
 
The operating profit during the quarter fell 12.65 per cent to Rs 28.02 crore. It has taken a hit from rising oil prices and input costs.
 
Blue Star Q2 net up 32% to Rs 11.59 cr
 
Central airconditioning and commercial refrigeration major Blue Star has reported jump of 32 per cent in its net profits at Rs 11.59 crore during the second quarter ended on September 30, 2005, as against the corresponding quarter last year.
 
Total income rose 36 per cent to Rs 284.72 crore. The company pointed to its continued customer acquisition for the increase in revenue. The order inflow continues to be healthy.
 
DCI Q2 net at Rs 45 cr
 
Dredging Corporation of India Ltd has posted net profit of Rs 45.02 crore for Q2 September, 2005 as compared to Rs 28.31 crore for Q2 September, 2004. Total income has decreased from Rs 138.07 crore in Q2-05 to Rs 136.65 crore in Q2 September, 2005.
 
Godfrey Philips net up 97% to Rs 23.44 cr
 
Godfrey Phillips, the country's second largest cigarette manufacturer, has reported sharp increase in net profit of 97.14 per cent during the second quarter of this financial year. Net sales was at Rs 169.29 crore, while net profit during this period was at Rs 23.44 crore.
 
The near doubling of net profit is over a marginal increase of 3.5 per cent in turnover, enabled mostly by the reversal of post-tax provisons made in earlier years for exceptoinal expenditure, that have now been reversed.
 
Net sales (post excise duty) during the first half of the financial year increased by 2.1 per cent to Rs 335.01 crore, against Rs 328.01 crore reported for the first half of last year. Net profit earned during H1 of this fiscal moved up by 52 per cent to Rs 39.14 crore.
