Ashok Leyland's August sales jump 30.4%

Chennai-headquartered firm sold 7,232 units in the same month of last year

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has reported a 30.4% jump in sales in August at 9,432 units.

The Chennai-headquartered firm sold 7,232 units in the same month of last year, a company statement said.

For the five-month period April to August 2012, it sold 46,704 units, up by 35.9% against 34,343 units in the same period of last year.

Commercial vehicle sales in August declined by nine% to 6,597 units from 7,218 in the same month last year.

The company sold 33,818 commercial vehicles during the April-August 2012 period compared to 34,329 units sold in the same period last year.

On its sales of small commercial vehicle-Dost, the company said it sold 2,835 units in August and 12,886 units during the period April to August 2012.
