Ashok Leyland sales up 12%

Ashok Leyland sold 4,283 vehicles in July 2005, higher by 11.56 per cent in relation to the 3,839 vehicles sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Ashok Leyland's engine of growth in July 2005 was the domestic sales of passenger vehicles. The company's new product in the segment, Lynx, had made a significant contribution to the 1,302 (737) passenger vehicles sold in July 2005, higher by 76.66 per cent.
 
The Lynx with a payload of 11 tonne, classified as an intermediary range vehicle, had been received well by the market, said a company official.
 
The company's commercial vehicle sales in July 2005 stood at 2,485 units (2,445 units). The company's production in July 2005 stood at 6,026 units (4,667 units), higher by 29.1 per cent.
