Nashik-based Ashoka Buildcon Ltd (ABL), a mid-sized BOT (build, operate & transfer) operator for infrastructure projects, is setting up a ready mix concrete (RMC) plant at Nashik, which will be operational by January next year.

The RMC plant, located at Gangapur Road, will have a 30-cubic metre per hour production capacity.

ABL is investing Rs 1.75 crore in this project, a company official said.

"The construction industry is changing rapidly. Old and conventional methods have given way to new and user-friendly ones. One major change in the industry is the acceptance of ready mix concrete throughout India. ABL has been in the production of RMC for the last seven years and has 1 million cubic metres of experience in production of RMC. Due to RMC, slabs can be completed in hours and projects in days," he said.

Currently, Ashoka Buildcon has five RMC plants at Indore, Surat, Pune, Mumbai and Chittorgarh.

The joint production capacity of these five RMC plants is 500 cubic metres per hour. They have a dedicated team of plant engineers, concrete technologists and other skilled persons.

"Mix proportion is always correct and water-cement ratio is properly maintained. As a result, the quality of Ashoka Buildcon's ready mix concrete is uniform. Besides, raw material, fresh concrete and hardened concrete are tested. Time to be spent on planning, procurement and control of raw material can be saved due to RMC," he said.
