In an attempt to promote tea as a healthy option for the health conscious youth, Assam Company Ltd, one of the oldest tea companies in the world, plans to set up Camellia tea bars in the city to popularise tea drinking. |
At present, Assam Company has six Camellia at the Saturday Club, the Calcutta Swimming Club, CC&FC, Hotel Samilton, Woodlands Nursing Home and Gariahat Mall. |
It inaugurated its seventh Camellia at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club. |
According to Mukundan Raman, vice president of marketing at Assam Company, "We are planning more Camellia outlets in Kolkata in locations like shopping malls and other commercial hubs. We feel there is a huge scope for growing the brand as people now are health conscious and are moving away from colas towards natural beverages. Tea is definitely a healthy option as it is rich in anti-oxidants as well as available in an array of brews, flavours and varieties." |
Assam Company is also planning to come up with a one-stop tea boutique on Ballygunge Circular Road which would comprise all flavours of tea, various tea based recipes, tea snacks, Indian and European and specialty teas like Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Italian Siesta, White Peony Rossettes, Curly White, Kocha-Japanese Green, Irish Punch and so on. |
Other than the above various tea products, tea containers, packets of teas of Jumbo, Cheetah and First Class tea packets would also be available in the months to come. |
At its tea bars, the company also plans to introduce various kinds of snacks and thalis like the Indian and Chinese thalis and other fritters to the menu. |
