The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) expects 50 to 70 investment proposals being finalized in an investor meet to be held on Friday.

The industry body said major participants in the day-long Conclave Odisha 2011 summit will be investing in sectors like logistics, information and technology, renewable energy, hospitality, health care and food processing, apart from tradition areas of manufacturing, power and mines.

"These industries need less land (compared to steel and other heavy industries), and promise tremendous employment opportunity. The government must promote these industries,” said D S Rawat, national secretary with ASSOCHAM.

"The land acquisition problems are often holding the implementation of large investment projects of the state. The story of Posco is a typical case in this regard. A single window agency with powers to settle the land acquisition issues in the state needs to be set up,” the ASSOCHAM suggested.
