Compressors manufacturer Atlas Copco India will introduce Z series oil-free rotary screw air compressors soon.

Atlas Copco's business line manager, Neeraj Bhargava, told Business Standard that the company's new range of oil free compressors will be marketed in India to meet the demands of the customers in the areas like food and beverages processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging, electronics manufacturing or textiles.

Contamination by even trace quantities of oil can result in damaged batches or products, high risk rejection rates and returns and costly production downtime and clean up.

Industries that risk contaminating their products with oil may expose themselves to product recalls and legal actions.

Atlas Copco's oil free air compressors meet the most stringent requirements defined by these manufacturers, Bhargava said.

The company has also received TUV Certification for ISO 8573-1 Class zero for its Z series compressors, he added.

As industries internationally become more and more aware of the financial implication of the contamination risks, machines that guarantee the supply of oil free compressed air will be required all over the world, Bhargava said.

He added that Atlas Coco was the first company in the world to meet the norms for the certification.

The Rs-570 crore Atlas Copco India proposes to import into India upwards of 150 units of the Z series compressors in the year 2006.

"These units will come as completely knocked down kits or ready to use assembled machines, as desired by the customers," Bhargava said.

The company expects to add about Rs 60 crore to its topline from the sale of Z series and other lubricated products range, Bhargava said.

He ruled out any additional investments at the company's facilities in India saying the necessary investments have been made in Atlas Copco's global facilities in Belgium.
