The plant will be commissioned on June 6, 2008 --World Environment Day.
The company installed this facility to tap hydrogen, a by-product generated from the existing 18,000 tonne per annum caustic plant. The announcement of this eco-friendly initiative was made on the eve of World environment Day 2008. The company has invested Rs. 25 crore to set up the plant, but strategically the move is believed as important.
"It is a strategic step by the company to meet the growing demand for hydrogen in the adjoining industries and for its captive consumption in the future. At Atul, we will take responsible care of the environment around us and improve the quality of life in the communities we operate in," said a company release.
As per Atul's estimate, the project will create synergies with its own plans to drive value added products from hydrogenation and chlorination.
