Aurobindo Pharma (APL) today announced the approval of one more of its Cephalosporin formulations by the United States Food and Drug Association (USFDA). Cephalosporins are antibiotics derived from fungi. They are similar to penicillins and are used to treat penicillin-resistant infections. APL has received approval for third generation Cefpodoxime proxetil tablets in the strengths of 100milligrams (mg) and 200mg. This is the seventh Cephalosporin approval for the company. Meanwhile, Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals also announced tentative approval of its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Terbinafine HCL 250mg tablets from the USFDA. This would be the first ANDA approval received by the company in the non-Cephalosporin space. |
