Aurobindo Pharma net up 68%

Net profit of Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals jumped by 68 per cent to Rs 35.62 crore in the third-quarter ended December 2003 against Rs 21.15 crore in the corresponding period of last year.
 
Total income, which included an other income of Rs 3.25 crore (Rs 16 lakh), has increased to Rs 326.4 crore (Rs 301.72 crore). A Rs 12.6 crore increase in stock-in-trade (Rs 1.74 crore) and decrease in interest cost at Rs 7.81 crore (Rs 9.2 crore) also helped the company improve its bottomline.
 
For the nine months ended December, the company's net profit shot up by 60 per cent to Rs 90.8 crore (Rs 56.77 crore). With the other income almost getting doubled to Rs 13.68 crore (Rs 6.82 crore), total income increased by 15 per cent to Rs 992 crore (Rs 860.5 crore).
 
Earnings per share during the period were at Rs 19.19 (Rs 12.61).
