Automobile exports from India registered a drop of 4.57% during the April to November period this fiscal, compared to the same period last year.
According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) today, passenger vehicle exports grew by 8.03% during April to November. Of this, passenger cars grew by 7.81% at 356,791 units, utility vehicles exports were up 36% to 4,445 units. Vans, on the other hand, registered a drop in exports to 1159 units, down 8%.
While overall commercial vehicle exports dropped by 1.37%, exports of medium and heavy commercial vehicles dropped 28% to 12,916 units during April to November. Passenger carriers dropped 13% to 4634 units, while goods carriers dropped 34% to 8282 units. The light commercial vehicle segment did marginally better, growing by 11%. In this segment, passenger carriers witnessed a 3% drop in exports (2764 units), while goods carrier exports grew by 12.27%.
Net two-wheeler exports were down 4.2% (mopeds down by 75%), while three-wheeler exports were down 24% during the period.
