Avesta Good Earth, the consumer foods division of Avesthagen, plans to build a functional food manufacturing centre for Rs 15 crore to Rs 20 crore at the SP Biotech park, Hyderabad. Functional foods play an important role in disease prevention.

The company manufactures its products at the Bangalore plant of the erstwhile Good Earth plant which has a capacity of 75 tonne each of muesli bars and muesli.

To introduce and market the functional food range in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Mumbai, the company has tied up with Havas Sports to sponsor 'Good Earth super Series'.

The series will promote junior tennis talent in the country, said Arjun Rao, business director, Havas Sports India. Havas Sports has roped in veteran tennis player Vijay Amritraj to back the programme and help identify young talent.
