Axis Communications aims 50% growth in India

Axis Communications, maker of network digital video surveillance cameras, today said it aims to achieve 50% growth year-on-year in the country.
"We are targeting a 50% growth in India, because if we don't do so we will lose our market share," Axis Communication's Regional Director (South Asia Pacific Region), Oh Tee Lee, told reporters here.
He, however, did not divulge the revenue that the company is expecting during the year but said that the average growth in India is 40%, and the global market share is 30%.
The video surveillance equipment market in India is currently valued at $204.2-million for 2011, according to an annual IMS research report.
The company's global competitors are Panasonic, Pelco, Bosch Security Systems and Sony Techwin.

Axis Communications is eyeing the Tier II and III cities to expand its market presence, he said.
"India is now a major contributor of Axis' Asia market revenue and a rapid growth market for us. Our growth plan includes a stronger foray into the Tier II and III cities, by further expanding our partner networks from the currently existing 850 channel partners in India," Lee said.
He added that this was a road map and the process to expand the channel partners to 2,000-3,000 channel partners, to penetrate in these regions would take at least two years.
The company has introduced its global partnership programmes in India such as the channel partner programme for resellers and architecture and engineering programme to support network architects, engineers and consultants who design and specify IP-based security systems.
The company announced the launch of its ceiling mount pan tilt and zoom (PTZ) cameras, which it claims is the world's smallest surveillance camera.
The Axis M50 PTZ Dome Network camera series enables users to monitor a site seamlessly from a remote location, providing a 360 degree view in HDTV.
It also has a built-in microphone that allows monitoring of unusual noises to trigger a security alarm.
The company would launch two products -- Axis M5013 priced at $499, and Axis M5014 priced at $599 -- which would be available after two months.
