Azim Premji Foundation and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Azim Premji School of Education (APSE) at the Hyderabad Campus of TISS.
Under the MoU, Azim Premji Foundation will provide financial support to APSE at TISS, Hyderabad, including for research, programs and infrastructure. The APSE at TISS Hyderabad will offer degrees and continuing education programmes, and also conduct research in the field of education, said the press release.
“Our collaboration with the Foundation will strengthen both the institutions, towards the goal of improving education in India,” said S Parasuraman, Director, TISS.
Dileep Ranjekar, CEO of the Foundation, and Member, Board of Governors, Azim Premji University said that improving quality of education must be one of India’s key goals. “We think this task needs organisations who have shared vision to collaborate deeply,” he said.
The new institute will be fully operational in two years. It will leverage significantly from the work at the other campuses of TISS, as well from the Azim Premji University, which has been set up by the Foundation.
