Baddi-based Fizikem Laboratories has been restrained by a Bangalore court from using its trademark Belplex Forte Tablets, which is similar to Anglo-French flagship brand Beplex Forte Tablets, a top official of Beplex said.

The city civil and sessions judge, Bangalore, ruled on Wednesday that this act of Fizikem Laboratories was an infringement of Anglo-French property rights of their registered brand name.

“We filed a suit against Fizikem Laboratories and obtained a temporary order from the Bangalore city civil and sessions judge, which disallows them using their trade name, which is similar to Anglo French’s brand name Beplex Forte Tablets,” said DGM Regulatory Affairs of Anglo-French Drugs & Industries B Subbrayalu.

“We then approached the Assistant Drugs Controller, Licensing Authority at Baddi for cancelling the licence of Fizikem product. They have promptly acted and suspended the product licence issued to Fizikem till further notice,” said Subbrayalu.

Anglo-French Drugs & Industries is a pharma company with strong capabilities in the development of therapeutic products, distribution, marketing and contract research. It claims to be the first firm in India to manufacture ‘single vitamin’ injectibles and a combination of B complex vitamins.
