Bajaj Auto is keen to increase its market share in the middle third, or upper 100cc capacity, segment of the motor-cycle market.

To do this, Bajaj Auto is pinning its hopes on its 125cc, XCD125 DTS-Si. "Bajaj is the market leader in the top one-third or 150cc, and the bottom third of 100cc bikes, with more than 50 per cent market share in both segments and this model is targeting leadership in the middle third," said Amit Pawar, regional manager of Bajaj Auto.

A digital speedometer and twin prismatic pilot lamps give XCD 'features of a 150-cc bike', he claimed. The model would initially be produced at the Waluj, Aurangabad, unit and later at its new Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh, factory.
