Bajaj Auto has sold over 25,000 units of its CT 100 model in the state. The company had launched the entry-level motorcycle four months back. |
Bajaj Auto officials said the company has decided to hike production capacity of the motorcycle in view of the demand. The new model has even eaten into the share of executive segment motorcycles. |
"The CT 100 has been in demand and, apart from people exchanging their vehicles for the CT 100, what is encouraging is that many customers from the executive segment are purchasing the motorcycle because of its pricing and features. We currently have a waiting period of a fortnight," said V Vasu, regional manager, Bajaj Auto Ltd. |
The company hopes to sell at least 10,000 units per month of the CT 100 in the coming months. At present, Bajaj sells around 7000 units every month in Gujarat. |
Vasu said that, with the company deciding to hike the production capacity of the CT 100, Bajaj should be able to sell at least 40 per cent more units in the coming months. |
"Going by just the demand and waiting period, I think we should be able to sell at least 10,000 units of the CT 100 every month," said Vasu. Bajaj Auto has 21 per cent share in the motorcycle market in Gujarat. It aims to raise this to at least 27 per cent by the year end. |
Among the three segments of motorcycles "" entry level, executive and premium "" Bajaj is the leader in the entry and premium segments. Bajaj has a share of 55 per cent in the entry level segment in the state and a share of 78 per cent in the premium segment in Gujarat. |
