Bajaj Auto, today announced the launch of its 'RE 600' cargo vehicle, developed by the company's R&D team.
The company said the new mini cargo carrier delivers the highest mileage and lowest operating costs in the commercial 3-wheeler category. "RE 600 offers best in class mileage which is at least 5 km per liter of diesel more than other vehicles," the company said in a press release.
The RE 600 is priced at Rs 1,03,686 ex-showroom Pune and it would be launched phase-wise pan-India from September 2009 onwards, the release said.
RE 600 has been developed for cargo movement in congested cities and towns. It has the lowest turning radius for high maneuverability even on narrow roads, has twin-front suspension and a spacious cabin for comfortable long hours of drive, has high torque for quick pick-up even with heavy loads, the release said.
"With the launch of this vehicle, we are meeting the needs of those customers with payloads up to 600 kilograms and are not willing to pay high operating and fixed costs. RE 600 would not only match but exceed the needs of those customers who rely on in-city transportation as a major need for their last leg distribution to retailers and end-users," Bajaj Auto's Commercial Vehicles, CEO, R C Maheshwari, said.
