Bajaj Auto reports 10% sales growth in Decemeber

Vehicle manufacturer Bajaj Auto, backed by its popular brands Pulsar and Discover, has reported 10 per cent growth in its sales in December 2010.

The company had sold 2,76,803 units during the month, up by 10 per cent during the same period of previous year.

Bajaj Auto Ltd has reported sales of 2,52,004 units in December 2009, the company said in a statement here.

On the motorcycles segment, the company had sold 2,43,675 units in December 2010 registering an increase of 11 per cent as against 2,19,920 units sold in the same month of previous year, it said.

Brands from the company, the Pulsar and Discover, registered 70 per cent of its sales, it said.

 

On the commercial vehicle category, the company witnessed a marginal increase of five per cent. Bajaj Auto had sold 33,128 units in December, as against 31,575 units in the same month of previous year, it said.

On the year-to-date figures, the company has registered an increase of 41 per cent over the corresponding period of previous year.

The company had sold 28,75,756 units in April-December 2010 as against 20,43,607 units in the same period of previous year, it said.

Sales of motorcycles during the period April-December 2010 grew by 42 per cent from 25,50,372 units as against 17,94,359 units, it said.

Sales of commercial vehicles grew from 2,44,655 units during April-December 2009 period to 3,25,357 units in April-December 2010, it said.

VE Commercial Vehicles’ sales up 51 %
Auto-maker VE Commercial Vehicles today said it recorded 51.2 per cent jump in its monthly sales at 4,030 units in December.

The joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors had sold 2,665 units in the same month previous year, VE Commercial Vehicles said in a statement.

Domestic sales in December last year increased to 3,426 units from 2,378 units in the same month a year ago, a jump of 44 per cent, the company added.

Exports for the month also soared over two-fold to 604 units from 287 units in December 2009.

Sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market went up by 31.3 per cent to 2,706 units during the month, as against 2,061 units in December 2009.

Heavy commercial vehicle sales recorded an over three- fold jump to 521 units in December 2010 from 150 units in December last year, it added.

Honda Siel Cars sales up 26%
Honda Siel Cars India has reported a 26.4 per cent jump in its sales for December at 5,135 units, compared to the 4,063 units the company had sold during the same period in 2009. The December sales comprised 4,380 units of its flagship sedan City, 269 units of hatchback Jazz, 275 units of premium sedan Civic, 185 units of luxury sedan Accord and 26 units of its sports utility vehicle CR-V, the company said.

Volkswagen sales up 10-fold
German car manufacturer Volkswagen today reported a 10-fold increase in sales for 2010 at 32,627 units on the back of healthy response to its latest small car Polo and sedan Vento. The company had sold 3,039 units during 2009. In the course of last year, the company sold 27,946 units of the Polo and Vento. Volkswagen expanded its dealerships to 70 from 40, the company said in a statement.

Mahindra Two Wheelers sales grow 83%
Mahindra Two Wheelers, the motorcycle and scooter manufacturing company of the M&M Group has posted a growth of 83 per cent in sales in December at 14,971 units, compared to 8,199 units in the same month a year ago.
