Annual sales of two and three wheelers manufactured by Bajaj Auto were down 13 per cent in March, 2009, and stood at 154,093 units, as against 176,280 units in the year ago month.
The dip in sales was lead by two wheelers. According to a company release, two wheeler sales were down 15 per cent and stood at 132,640 units, compared to 155,504 units in the same month of 2008. Motorcycles sales were down 14 per cent at 132,210 units as against 154,443 units in the year ago month.
However, the dip in sales of motorcycles during March is lower than the levels seen in December, when the company sold just 61,546 units.
According to the company, the improvement in sales compared to the levels seen in earlier months was due to higher sales of the XCD 135 model.
Bajaj Auto shares were down a marginal Rs 2 at Rs 630 at 1245 hours.
