Bajaj cheers at Feb sales

Claims new leadership in 350-500cc motorcycle segment, thanks to Dominar

Pune-headquartered Bajaj Auto claims to have surpassed volumes sold by market leader Royal Enfield in the 350-500cc motorcycle segment in February. 

It attributes this to the Dominar, a 373 cc premium sports motorcycle it launched in December, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.36 lakh. Enfield says Bajaj is celebrating too early. 

Bajaj has sold about 3,000 units of Dominar a month this calendar year and is drawing a comparison with the February volume of Royal Enfield in the 350-500 cc segment, when the latter did wholesale volumes of 2,602 units. Eric Vas, president for the motorcycle business at Bajaj,
