Bajaj Auto has raised its sales target for motorcycles to 12 lakh units in 2003-04, which is a 33 per cent increase over the goal of nine lakh bikes set for 2002-03.
This is despite the company expecting domestic demand to slow down to 15 per cent in the new fiscal.
Sales in the motorcycle segment have risen at a furious 33 per cent in 2002-03 up to February. In this period, Bajaj has sold 8.45 lakh motorcycles compared with a sales of 6.5 lakh motorcycles for the whole of 2001-02.
