Riding on better realisations, Bajaj Hindusthan, the country's largest sugar producer, has registered a net profit of Rs 43.03 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008, jumping over 11-fold, compared with Rs 3.66 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.

Net sales, however, dipped marginally to Rs 490.28 crore. Its better performance was aided by higher revenue from the company's distillery business (Rs 69.50 crore now compared with Rs 33.68 crore in the previous comparable period) and inclusion of cogeneration revenues for the first time, beginning this season (Oct-Sept). Revenues from cogeneration stood at Rs 81.42 crore.
