Bajaj Jan bike sales up 56%

Bajaj Auto has posted a 33.1% increase in total two-wheeler sales at 1,42,294 units in January 2005 as against 1,06,872 units in January 2004.

Motorcycle sales were up 56% at 1,32,028 units as against 84,500 units sold in January 2004, the company said in release today.

Total two and three-wheeler sales stood at 1,58,709 units in January 2005 as against 1,27,022 in January 2004 - an increase of 24.9% , the release said.

Three-wheeler sales were down 18.5% to 16,415 units as against 20,150 units sold in January 2004.

"The robust performance was due to the success of its new product portfolio including Bajaj CT100, Discover DTS-1 and Pulsar DTS-1," the release said adding the company hopes to end FY05 with sales of close to 15 lakh motorcycles.
