Bajaj Kawasaki launches Ninja 250R

Bajaj Auto today confirmed its plans of launching the small car by 2011 in partnership with French company Renault and Japanese giant Nissan and denied of having any plans of getting into the sedan segment.

Rajiv Bajaj, managing director, Bajaj Auto was talking on the sidelines of the launch of the new Kawasaki Ninja 250R in the Pune plant. Ninja 250R, powered by a 249cc parallel twin engine and will be available only at Bajaj Probiking showrooms, the company's premium dealership outlet.

Bajaj Probiking will provide full sales infrastructure to its customers through its existing network of 24 showrooms across 22 Indian cities. The company plans to strengthen its network by adding 6 more showrooms in the next one year.

 

Ninja 250R, the super-sport bike priced at Rs 2,69,970 ex-showroom Delhi and Rs 2,69,580 ex-showroom Chennai is available in two colours. With zero localisation, the bikes will be brought to India as completely knocked down units and later assembled at the Chakan plant of Bajaj.

About 60 units of the bike are assembled and ready presently and will reach the showrooms in the next couple of days, the company stated. 

Bajaj Auto expects to sell over a thousand units of this bike in the next 12 months. It also plans to launch a newer version of the Pulsar in two years along with more of the Ninja versions.

The buzz is also that Bajaj Auto will soon launch a new motorbike too in a few months.
