Bajaj Auto has reverted to a six-day week production schedule at its Akurdi plant near Pune with effect from today, almost 18 months after it had shifted to a five-day week at the same plant in view of low demand.

The company manufactures geared scooters at this plant, in addition to the newly launched 90cc bike, Byk.

However, it is the improving response to the latter, the cheapest and most fuel efficient 4-stroke bike in the country, that the company is having to increase production.

Byk is powered by the same 4-stroke engine that comes with Bajaj Auto
