Cashing in on its first mover's advantage in Gujarat, Chennai-based quick service restaurant (QSR) chain Bangs Hospitality India Pvt. Ltd. plans to expand its fried chicken outlet network in the state. India's first domestic Fried Chicken QSR brand, Bangs already has two outlets in the state, including Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
"Gujarat is one of the fastest growing states for fast food in India, especially for non- vegetarian lovers. In Gujarat, we find a lot of non vegetarian brands serving only vegetarian food despite of the fact that the city has a good percentage of people eating non veg. However, while our Ahmedabad and Vadodara outlets have begun witnessing success, over the next one year, we are planning to come up with 13 more outlets in places like Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar," said Asvin Simon, managing director of Bangs.
Apart from in all 15 outlets in Gujarat by next year, the company is planning to expand its network to other states as well with at least 50 outlets coming up within the next one year in states like Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka. Currently, it runs over 20 such outlets across the country.
The company, which started with a small kiosk in just 80 sq.ft area in Chennai in 2009, is now present across more than 10 states, including Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, through 20 plus outlets. These outlets are a mix of three types of formats – restaurant, kiosk and express.
Other than fried chicken, Bangs also offers a variety of fast food options including burgers, wraps and pasta, along with a large number of sidekicks, tempting desserts and drinks.
In Gujarat, the company is looking at an average space of 800 sq ft for franchised outlets of Bangs. Talking about maintaining service standards and product quality across all the outlets, Simon said, "Even though they are franchised outlets, we are taking care of the supply chain, product quality and training of the staff. As a Bang’s franchisee, the outlet owner will receive all the technical and marketing support on a continued basis. We also conduct regular visits and mystery audit checks." Apart from providing food, Bangs is also looking at differentiating its outlets by offering separate kids' play area in Gujarat.
