The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) has launched the latest innovation in TV rating system - #BARCTweet. In partnership with Twitter, BARC India, will now provide TV viewers as well as industry insiders, weekly ratings data on-the-go and delivered almost instantly right to their Twitter timeline.

In order to get the topline television audience ratings data, one has to now simply tweet with the hashtag #BARCTweet followed by the data request. For e.g. by tweeting #BARCTweet Top 5 Telugu Programs the user will receive a reply from @BARCIndia with the data you requested.

While BARC India’s subscribers have access to all the data on a weekly basis, this unique service is available free of cost to any non-subscriber. The innovation has been developed and launched to uphold transparency that the promoters of the service have maintained is at the core of the BARC India philosophy.

BARC India is a joint industry body which is promoted by broadcasters (60%), media agencies (20%) and advertisers (20%). This new initiative has been launched in association with Frrole – a social data intelligence Setup manning the backend software, will now make reaching out to consumers possible bringing to life one of BARC India’s key goals. This also underlines the innovative nature of Twitter and the possibilities for partners.
